Application

PEP'SOL has excellent nutritional and attractive properties allowing it to replace part of the fish meal in aqua diets. The high solubility and wide range of smaller peptides increase the palatability and binding properties of the feed pellet, so to improve the feed intake and performance of fish and shrimp.

Here is an explanation of the key terms in the phrase "SPRAY DRIED KERATIN HYDROLYZATE FOR AQUAFEED":

1. Spray Dried: Spray drying is a process in which a liquid substance, in this case keratin hydrolyzate, is transformed into a dry powder form using a tower or chamber spray drying. The liquid keratin hydrolyzate is atomized into fine droplets and then quickly dried by hot air, resulting in the formation of small particles of dried powder.

2. Keratin: Keratin is a fibrous protein abundant in various animal tissues including feathers, hair, horns, and nails. It is known for its strength, structure and resistance to decay. Keratin contains essential amino acids necessary for the growth and development of aquatic animals.

3. Hydrolyzate: Keratin hydrolyzate refers to keratin that has undergone a process of hydrolysis. Hydrolysis is the breaking down of protein into smaller peptides or amino acids by enzymatic or chemical means. This process improves the digestibility and bioavailability of the protein, allowing aquatic animals to use the nutrients found in keratin more efficiently.

4. Aquafeed: Aquafeed is a specialized type of food formulated specifically for aquatic animals. It provides a balanced diet that includes protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients necessary for the growth, development and general health of fish and other aquatic organisms.

Spray-dried keratin hydrolyzate is incorporated into aquaculture feed formulations to improve the nutritional profile of the feed. It serves as a source of high quality protein and essential amino acids, which are important for growth, muscle development and overall health in aquatic animals. The spray drying process converts keratin hydrolyzate into a stable and easily manageable powder form, allowing convenient and precise mixing with other food ingredients.

Aquaculture producers use spray-dried keratin hydrolyzate in their aquaculture feed formulations to optimize the nutritional value of the feed and support the growth and performance of the aquatic animals in their care.

Process
PEP’SOL is a premium hydrolysed keratin concentrate produced from purified chicken feathers at a ‘unique poultry’ dedicated facility in Dendermonde, Belgium, using a patented production process. The highly soluble fraction obtained after the hydrolysation process is concentrated and dried guaranteeing the overall quality and organoleptic characteristics.

Storage & shelf life
